About Us

Tim Hendrickson, owner and operator of Secret Safari and T&T Camels, has more than 30 years experience in the professional animal business. Tim began working with exotic cats and animals while operating a magic show production. He then started giving camel rides at small zoos in Indiana on the weekends while continuing to work full-time. Tim was recruited by a zoo in Florida to provide camel rides during their busy season. While working in Florida, a zoo in Pennsylvania contracted Tim to provide camel rides for their summer season.

As popularity for the rides grew so did the season -- now running from April through October each year. After years of successful camel rides at the zoo in Pennsylvania, the zoo and Tim decided to introduce elephant shows, and then rides. Shortly thereafter, Tim began managing the pony ride exhibit. Years later Tim expanded further with the Lorikeet Encounter and operated the Wallaby Walkthru exhibit. Tim's most recent exhibit addition is the draft horse ride.

He has consulted with many zoos and private companies as well as transported animals for most majors zoos in the country. Tim is now working with the USDA as a consultant on elephant care and training while continuing his work in Pennsylvania.

Secret Safari is USDA licensed and fully insured.
